Growing Success Tips

Success with Redcurrant Rondom centres on selecting a sheltered position with moist, well-draining soil and ensuring consistent moisture during the growing season for optimal sugar development and fruit quality. Plant during the dormant season between November and March, preparing the soil with generous organic matter incorporation and ensuring good drainage to support vigorous growth. Establish regular watering during dry spells, particularly during fruit development when sugar content is determined, and apply annual mulching in spring to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Take advantage of the late-season ripening by protecting developing fruit from birds and harvesting when berries achieve full pale red colour for optimal sugar content and flavour balance. Maintain annual pruning to promote healthy framework development and ensure adequate air circulation for disease prevention. Your Rondom will demonstrate that scientifically proven breeding excellence delivers exceptional garden performance, combining superior sugar content with late-season productivity that transforms ordinary kitchen gardens into premium fruit production centres for gardeners who appreciate both innovation and proven quality in their edible landscapes.

Buying Fruit Trees/Bushes from Jacksons Nurseries

Our trees might be Freshly Potted and the root system may not be fully established, and loose soil may occur when unpacking.

Unlike many garden centres, supermarkets and some nurseries here at Jacksons Nurseries we sell the majority of our stock all year round. Our stock is for the most part grown outdoors making it far hardier than those grown under glass and/or only sold ‘In Season’.

Here at Jacksons Nurseries we would favour a hardy outdoor grown plant every time. They are far less likely to suffer from the shock of being planted in colder conditions and they will begin to establish more rapidly the following spring. This can mean that they don’t look like a ‘picture perfect’ plant when purchased out of season but with the correct care and a little time you’ll have a wonderful plant to enjoy for many years to come.
