Evergreen hedging plants
We’ve handpicked the best evergreen hedging plants to provide an effective barrier and privacy screen around the perimeter of your garden. Evergreens are often favoured for hedges as they retain their leaves all year round – including throughout the autumn and winter – guarding against nosey neighbours or passers by and maintaining their effectiveness at sheltering your outdoor space from noise pollution through the seasons. They offer a lush, full appearance that’s well suited for urban, suburban and country gardens alike. Evergreens are effective at protecting against pollution, filtering toxic particles from the air, making it cleaner to breathe in. They also help to stabilise the soil around the perimeter of your garden, guarding against erosion and reducing flood risk by soaking up excess groundwater before it reaches hardstanding surfaces, all whilst providing a home and shelter for wildlife and nesting birds. And evergreens aren’t just grown for their foliage – many of these varieties offer interesting features such as flowers, berries, seed pods and more at different times of the year. Most of our hedging plants are grown in pots and can be planted at any time of the year, providing the ground is not frozen or waterlogged and it’s not excessively windy. We also stock bare root and rootballed hedging, which can be planted between mid-October and the end of March, except for rootballed evergreens which can be planted until early May.
