The 'Little Blue Wonder' is one of the most compact blueberries, the plant only grows about 50 cm high, making it perfect for the smallest gardens, containers, and balconies. The variety grows very compactly, only 40 - 60 cm high and is therefore perfect for pot culture, ensuring maximum berry production in minimum space whilst maintaining exceptional garden beauty and productivity.
But not only because of that, it is also very robust and extremely hardy. Even very low winter temperatures below -30° C do not bother her, making this variety perfect for challenging climates and exposed positions. This exceptional hardiness ensures reliable fruit production even in the harshest conditions, providing gardeners with confidence in consistent annual harvests regardless of extreme weather.
The berries, which are ready for picking in late July, provide valuable late summer berry production when many other fruits have finished. This excellent timing ensures optimal harvesting conditions during peak preserving season, perfect for fresh consumption, freezing, and preserve-making when summer fruit is most appreciated.
Despite their small size, these berries are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that provide exceptional health benefits. Home-grown blueberries offer superior nutritional value compared to shop-bought alternatives, ensuring maximum antioxidant content and freshness whilst providing the satisfaction of growing your own premium health food in the smallest possible space.
Some blueberry varieties also grow well in containers and on the balcony. Choose compact and small-growing varieties like 'Sunshine Blue' or 'Little Blue Wonder', confirming this variety's exceptional suitability for container growing. The ultra-compact habit and robust nature make it ideal for patio containers, window boxes, and small space gardening where traditional fruit bushes would be impractical.

The attractive appearance and productive nature ensure both ornamental beauty and practical harvest from the smallest growing areas.
Perfect for container growing, raised beds, rock gardens, or as edging plants, this variety offers tremendous flexibility for various garden situations and design schemes. Particularly effective as productive border plants, miniature hedging, or integrated into small space designs where every plant must earn its place through both beauty and productivity.
Success with Blueberry 'Little Blue Wonder' centres on providing acidic, moisture-retentive soil (pH 4.5-5.5) with excellent drainage and consistent watering throughout the growing season. Plant in containers using peat-free ericaceous compost and ensure adequate winter protection for pot-grown plants, though the exceptional hardiness makes this variety more forgiving than most. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and harvest berries when they develop their characteristic sky-blue colour and begin to soften for optimal fresh flavour. Feed regularly with ericaceous fertiliser during the growing season and take advantage of the ultra-compact size for easy maintenance and harvesting. Your Blueberry 'Little Blue Wonder' will demonstrate that exceptional superfood quality and ultra-compact convenience can be perfectly combined in one outstanding dwarf variety, delivering extraordinary antioxidant-rich flavour experiences and reliable fruit production that transforms any tiny space into a productive and beautiful edible sanctuary.
Buying Fruit Trees/Bushes from Jacksons Nurseries
Our trees might be Freshly Potted and the root system may not be fully established, and loose soil may occur when unpacking.
Unlike many garden centres, supermarkets and some nurseries here at Jacksons Nurseries we sell the majority of our stock all year round. Our stock is for the most part grown outdoors making it far hardier than those grown under glass and/or only sold ‘In Season’.
Here at Jacksons Nurseries we would favour a hardy outdoor grown plant every time. They are far less likely to suffer from the shock of being planted in colder conditions and they will begin to establish more rapidly the following spring. This can mean that they don’t look like a ‘picture perfect’ plant when purchased out of season but with the correct care and a little time you’ll have a wonderful plant to enjoy for many years to come.
