Level fill a module tray with seed compost firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually covering seeds with 1cm (1/2in) compost. Place in a propagator at 10-15 degrees Celsuis (50-60 Fahrenheit) or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Keep moist.

When shoots appear, remove cling film or ventilate propagator. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. Grow on in a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsuis (50 Fahrenheit). Gradually accustom plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.

When seedlings have produced 4 leaves, transplant them to their cropping position leaving 45cm (18in) between plants in rows 45cm )18in) apart. Firm in and keep well watered in dry spells.
