This is a self-fertile, heavy-cropping, deciduous white current with small, pale green spring flowers and a very reliable crop of berries year after year. It produces masses of large, shiny, soft pale yellowish-white berries which are produced in long, heavy trusses at the base of the previous year's wood and ripen in mid- to late summer.
These are visually appealing and offer a delicious, sweet, flavoursome taste thatÂ’s not as acidic as their red counterparts, making them great for eating fresh or using for a wide range of culinary purposes including making jams or pies. It has a vigorous, upright, bushy growth habit with attractive, arching canes and serrated, three-lobed, pale green leaves.
Suitable for areas that are too wet and shady for other fruit, its form makes it perfect for training as an espalier in a fan shape against a wall or fence or using as a low, ornamental hedge.
Buying Fruit Trees/Bushes from Jacksons Nurseries
Our trees might be Freshly Potted and the root system may not be fully established, and loose soil may occur when unpacking.
Unlike many garden centres, supermarkets and some nurseries here at Jacksons Nurseries we sell the majority of our stock all year round. Our stock is for the most part grown outdoors making it far hardier than those grown under glass and/or only sold ‘In Season’.
Here at Jacksons Nurseries we would favour a hardy outdoor grown plant every time. They are far less likely to suffer from the shock of being planted in colder conditions and they will begin to establish more rapidly the following spring. This can mean that they don’t look like a ‘picture perfect’ plant when purchased out of season but with the correct care and a little time you’ll have a wonderful plant to enjoy for many years to come.
