Sweet Basil or Ocimum basilicum is a tender and aromatic annual with broad lush looking foliage in a shade of bright green. The leaves are broadly elliptical growing in pairs opposite one another on the stems. In late summer it may bloom with small tubular white flowers in whorls which forms spikes above the foliage.
Culinary use: Considered one of the healthiest herbs, Sweet Basil is one of the most popular culinary herbs used today. The leaves are harvested and generally used fresh or dried to create a long-lasting herb with which to enhance flavours while cooking.
