The Rose 'Summer Beauty' Standard is an exquisite floribunda rose that captures the very essence of summer's warmth and romance in its stunning blooms. This captivating specimen combines the abundant flowering habit of floribunda roses with the elegant structure of a standard tree form, creating a spectacular focal point that epitomises garden beauty. The enchanting blend of pink and apricot tones in the flowers creates a soft, romantic atmosphere that brings warmth and charm to any garden setting throughout the growing season.
Flower Characteristics This magnificent rose produces abundant clusters of semi-double flowers in a beautiful blend of soft pink and warm apricot tones that create a truly romantic appearance. The blooms measure 6-8cm across and display a charming cupped form with gently ruffled petals that showcase subtle colour variations from pale peachy-pink to deeper coral-apricot. Each flower releases a delightful, moderate fragrance with notes of fresh fruit and honey that enhances the overall garden experience and attracts beneficial pollinators.
Growth Habit and Size The Summer Beauty standard typically reaches 1.6 metres in total height, with a well-proportioned, rounded crown measuring approximately 80cm across. The sturdy upright stem supports a vigorous, bushy head of growth that maintains an attractive dome shape throughout the growing season. As a true floribunda, it produces flowers in generous clusters, creating masses of colour that make a stunning visual impact.
Foliage The rose displays attractive mid-green foliage with a healthy, semi-glossy finish that provides a perfect complement to the soft pink and apricot blooms. The leaves are naturally disease-resistant and maintain their fresh appearance throughout the growing season, creating dense coverage that enhances the overall beauty of the flower clusters.
Position and Soil Choose a sunny location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal flower production and colour development. The rose thrives in well-draining, fertile soil enriched with organic matter, with a preferred pH range of 6.0-7.0. Good air circulation around the plant is essential to maintain health and promote the abundant flowering characteristic of floribunda roses.
Watering Maintain consistent soil moisture throughout the growing season, particularly during peak flowering periods when the plant's water requirements are highest. Water deeply at the base of the plant to encourage strong root development whilst keeping foliage dry to preserve flower quality. Deep, weekly watering is more effective than frequent shallow applications.
Feeding Apply a balanced rose fertiliser in early spring as new growth begins, followed by a second application in mid-summer to support the continuous flowering cycle typical of floribunda roses. The variety responds well to additional feeding during peak growing periods to maintain the abundant cluster flowering habit.
Pruning Prune during late winter or early spring before buds break dormancy. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches first, then reduce the main stems by one-third to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant flowering. Regular deadheading of spent flower clusters during the growing season promotes continuous blooming and maintains the plant's appearance.
Disease Resistance Summer Beauty demonstrates good resistance to common rose diseases including black spot and powdery mildew. Regular monitoring and preventative care, combined with good air circulation, help maintain the healthy foliage that showcases the beautiful flower clusters to best advantage.
Floribunda Care As a floribunda variety, Summer Beauty benefits from regular feeding and consistent care to maintain its prolific flowering habit. The cluster-flowering nature means deadheading entire flower heads rather than individual blooms for best results.
Winter Care Fully hardy throughout most of the UK, requiring minimal winter protection. In exposed locations, protect the graft union with horticultural fleece during severe frosts, and ensure good drainage around the root zone during wet winter periods.
Romantic Garden Settings Perfect for creating soft, romantic garden schemes where the pink and apricot colour blend adds warmth and charm. Ideal for cottage gardens, romantic borders, or anywhere a gentle touch is desired.
Colour Harmony The beautiful pink and apricot blend works magnificently in warm colour schemes, harmonising with other peachy, coral, and soft yellow flowers whilst providing gentle contrast with deeper pink or red varieties.
Floribunda Benefits The cluster-flowering habit provides exceptional garden impact with masses of blooms creating dense colour displays that are particularly effective when viewed from a distance or as part of larger landscape schemes.
Container Growing Well-suited to large containers for patios, terraces, or balconies where the abundant flower clusters and gentle fragrance can be appreciated up close. The standard form makes it perfect for creating height and structure in container displays.
Companion Plants Creates beautiful combinations with silver-leaved plants like artemisia or lamb's ear that enhance the soft colour tones. Pairs excellently with blue flowers such as catmint or lavender for classic colour harmony, and complements cream or white flowers like sweet alyssum or white roses.
Optimal Planting Time Potted roses can be planted at any time of the year providing the ground is not frozen or waterlogged and its not excessively windy.
Planting Method Prepare a generous planting hole twice the width of the root ball, ensuring the graft union is positioned at soil level. Incorporate well-rotted compost into the backfill soil, water thoroughly after planting, and apply a 5cm mulch layer whilst keeping it clear of the main stem.
Establishment Care Provide regular watering during the first growing season to develop a strong root system. Floribunda roses typically establish quickly and often begin their cluster-flowering display in their first season with proper care.
Abundant Blooming Habit Flowers continuously from late spring through to the first hard frosts, typically providing 5-6 months of spectacular colour. The floribunda nature ensures masses of blooms in each flush, creating outstanding garden impact throughout the season.
Colour Development The pink and apricot blend intensifies beautifully in cooler weather, whilst hot summer conditions may lighten the tones slightly, providing subtle seasonal variation in the flower display.
Fragrance Experience The moderate fragrance with fruity and honey notes is particularly noticeable during warm, still evenings and adds to the romantic atmosphere created by the soft colour tones.
Cut Flower Value The abundant flower clusters make excellent cut flowers, providing generous material for arrangements. The soft colour blend works beautifully in both formal and informal floral displays.
Summer Focal Point The name says it all – this rose truly embodies summer beauty with its warm colour tones and abundant flowering habit that creates spectacular garden displays during the peak growing season.
Year-Round Structure The formal standard shape provides architectural interest throughout the year, creating valuable garden structure during winter months whilst showcasing the magnificent flower clusters during the growing season.
Long-Term Performance With proper care, this standard rose will provide decades of reliable flowering, with the abundant floribunda habit ensuring spectacular displays year after year as the plant matures and establishes.
The Rose 'Summer Beauty' Standard offers the perfect combination of romantic appeal and floribunda reliability. The enchanting pink and apricot colour blend creates a soft, feminine atmosphere that brings warmth and charm to any garden setting, whilst the abundant cluster-flowering habit ensures spectacular visual impact throughout the growing season.
This variety is particularly suited to gardeners who appreciate soft, romantic colour schemes and want a rose that provides abundant blooms rather than sparse, individual flowers. The floribunda nature means continuous colour and garden impact, making it excellent value for gardeners seeking maximum display from their roses.
The standard form adds instant elegance and structure whilst showcasing the beautiful flower clusters to perfection. Whether chosen for its romantic colour blend, abundant flowering habit, or simply its evocative name that promises summer-long beauty, this rose delivers exceptional garden performance with the reliable flowering that makes floribunda roses so beloved.

We are help to help you with any help and advice you need in choosing, planting and growing your roses before, during and after your purchase from us. The help and advice section of our website has extensive information, see below some examples of articles you may find useful:

How our roses are supplied through the seasons
All our roses are cultivated in an open field and are carefully dug up when the weather is optimal, typically in October or November. While other nurseries supply roses bare root, once our field-grown roses have been potted up we supply them freshly potted. This better protects the roots and helps keep them moist in transit, ensuring your roses arrive as healthy as when they left our nursery. So don’t be alarmed if the compost comes away from the roots when you remove them from the pot.

The roses can remain in their pots over the winter, as long as they are properly watered and fed, but it's best to plant them out as soon as possible. If you do plant them straight away make sure the planting mix is prepared first, hold the root close to the top of the hole as you tip the pot upside down and try to keep as much compost as possible from falling away. They will already be pruned, so no additional pruning is needed except for trimming any dead tips. Regular pruning can start in late winter, the year after planting.

Rose Types
Hybrid Tea Roses (HT)
Hybrid Tea roses are probably the most popular group of roses, available in both bush and standard form they have long flower stems and shapely blooms. Blooms are typically medium to large in size, with many petals which form a distinct central cone.
Floribunda Roses (FL)
Floribunda roses bears its flowers in clusters or trusses, with several blooms open at time in each truss. A popular choice the Floribunda rose group is unrivalled for colour, reliability and longevity as a bedding display however the flower form in generally inferior to the Hybrid Tea.
Patio Roses (PATIO)
Patio roses were introduced in the 1980’s and the group now contains several popular varieties. Generally low-growing roses that were once grouped with the Floribuna group but have now been put in their own group of compact versions. Usually growing about 50cm high they make excellent plants for patio containers or at the front of borders.
Climbing Roses (CLM)
Climbing roses as the name suggests are the perfect choice for covering a wall or screen. Often grouped together with Ramblers, Climbers tend to have stiffer stems, larger flowers but smaller trusses than Ramblers.
Rambling Roses (RAM)
Rambling roses are often grouped with Climbing Roses but the ramblers tend to have a more pliable stems that can be used to run along the soil to use as groundcover or can be used to make weeping standards.
Miniature Roses (MINI)
Miniature roses have increased in popularity in recent years due to their versatility, even grown indoors as temporary pot plants that grow to a maximum height of 40cm. An ideal choice for planting in tubs, edging beds and rockeries.
English Roses (ENG)
Often referred to as Austin or David Austin Roses, English roses are hybrids of old English roses and more modern varieties bread by David Austin to provide the best of both, mixing old rose shapes and scents with more modern colour range, compact habits and repeat flowering.

Planting Advice
Roses like a generous root space, so dig a deep hole approximately twice as wide as the current root system, preferably adding composted organic matter to the soil. Never plant into frozen soil – in winter, await a frost-free period. Carefully remove the pot and gently tease the roots apart to spread them around the hole. Position the plant so that the ‘bud point’ (the place where the shoots emerge from, where the cultivated rose was grafted onto the rootstock) is at soil level. Replace the soil, firming it down gently, then water copiously. Ideally, a general purpose fertiliser should be applied to the surrounding soil as a top dressing. We also highly recommend the use of Rose Rootgrow, which provides a friendly fungus that prevents ‘rose replant syndrome’.

Buying our Roses
Most of our roses are supplied in a 4 litre pot although this may vary slightly depending on rose variety. If the size of pot differes significatly from 4 litres then we will make this clear somewhere on the product page.
Seasonality
Our roses are grown outdoors and as such are subject to seasonal changes. As we sell potted stock throughout the year your rose may not arrive and look like you expect it to. If you are uncertain how your rose will arrive (especially if buying for a gift) then we suggest you contact us prior to making a purchase.
Freshly Potted
Each year a new batch of roses is potted up ready for the following season. Once potted (usually November/December time) they go on sale as 'Freshly Potted'. If you purchase a freshly potted rose and plant it soon after you will find that when removing the rose from the pot there will be a lot of loose soil as the roots will not have had time to grow and bind the compost.

Pruned/Cut Back
In autumn the majority of our roses have finished flowering and begin to look untidy, at this point we prune them quite hard in preparation for the following season. We continue to sell roses throughout the year, when a rose has been pruned in such a way we will identify it has being so. If you are not sure what to expect then please ask prior to making a purchase. Some garden centres/supermarkets sell stock that has been grown abroad or in poly-tunnels so they look 'picture perfect' out of season, while this is ideal for a gift they are short lived once planted.
