Prunus Avium Plena
AKA Double Flowered Wild Cherry Tree
Double Flowered Wild cherry trees, or Prunus Avium Plena, are large-growing, pretty native trees reaching 7 to 12 metres at maturity. They have dark green foliage which turns to a fabulous display of autumnal colour in shades of golden-yellow, oranges and reds. It has a pyramidal shape with strong central leader, becoming more rounded as the tree matures. ‘Plena’ is a double-flowering version of the original native tree and makes an excellent showy addition to planting schemes for large gardens or parks. Prefers a well drained soil and will reach an eventual height of 7 to 12 metres.
