Acer platanoides Cleveland or Norway Maple is a medium-sized tree with large leaves in the characteristic maple shape. Cultivated since 1948, the dark green foliage taken on a stunning golden-yellow hue in the autumnal display.
It has an upright crown shape when young before broadening out to oval shaped at maturity. It is tough and hardy, thriving in almost any soil, drought resistant and tolerant of pollution.
It is useful in schemes that require dense coverage of foliage without excessive spread.
