Rabbit resistant shrubs
Shop our range of rabbit resistant shrubs, useful for any gardens experiencing problems with pesky hares nibbling away at their ornamental plants. To manage expectations, no varieties of shrub are completely rabbit proof, but there are certain types that tend to stand up to them better than others. The butterfly bush (buddleia) does well again rabbits while also being attractive to wildlife with its slightly sprawling growth habit and attractive flower spikes on long stems. If you’re gardening in shade, aucuba or spotted laurel work well as a versatile evergreen, boasting large, glossy, evergreen leaves in a colourful mix of green and yellow-gold. Weigela perform well too, producing delicate, trumpet-shaped pinkish-white flowers from spring onwards against a backdrop of attractive, deciduous foliage, often variegated or rich purple.
