Crocosmia plants
Crocosmia is a reliable, long-flowering border perennial producing beautiful, arching sprays of funnel-shaped flowers from mid to late summer in bold, fiery sunrise shades of yellow, red and orange. Originating from South Africa, these tall, showy, architectural flowers have an exotic appearance, perfect for providing a burst of late-season colour when other flowers are fading and making great cut flowers. Crocosmia plants grow from corms with a clump-forming growth habit and attractive, sword-shaped leaves. They are herbaceous perennials, meaning they will due back to the ground each winter before bursting into life again when spring comes around. Grow Crocosmia in a sheltered spot protected from cold, drying winds. Stake taller-growing varieties and lift and divide congested clumps in the spring. They're easy to grow and respond well to pruning if they outgrow their designated space.
