Agapanthus plants
Agapanthus are sun-loving perennials producing dramatic, large, spherical flowers in stunning shades of blue from mid-summer into the autumn. The showy flowers are borne on tall stems that sway gracefully in the wind, above lush, evergreen, strap-like blue-green leaves. Originating from South Africa, they are perfect for adding a tropical appearance to your borders or containers. Smaller varieties of 30-50cm are well suited to the front of the border with large varieties of around a metre tall well suited to the centre of the flower bed. Feed fortnightly during the flowering season and dead-head faded flowers to encourage a fresh flush of blooms. Evergreen varieties are not fully hardy and may be grown in containers to over-winter indoors.
