Small fern plants
Here is our selection of small fern plants growing to a metre tall or less, many rarely exceeding 30-40cm. Ferns are low-maintenance plants, easy to grow, unfussy about soil type and untroubled by pests and diseases. Small specimens can succeed in the most dark, dingy places in the garden and tiny varieties will even grow in cracks in walls. Small ferns have delicate, architectural leaf forms with fine hairs on the leaf margins. They are useful for the front of mixed borders, the transitioning edge into woodland or as beginner plants for growing in containers.
