Topiary for containers
Virtually all topiary plants are well suited to growing in containers, whether they’re positioned either side of a doorway or entrance, on the patio or elsewhere in your garden. Whilst it’s more common for topiary to be grown in containers than in the ground just remember, like all containerised plants, they’ll need to be watered a little more frequently than their counterparts in the border. Topiary refers to shrubs are trees which have been trained or clipped into clearly defined, geometric or fanciful shapes such as balls, cubes, obelisks, pyramids, cones, or tapering spirals. It is excellent for adding architectural flair and strong lines to your garden. Spirals, pyramids and lollipops are great for positioning either side of a doorway to add elegance and a touch of glamour, whilst well-maintained Buxus balls can be used to add a degree of sharpness and formality. Topiary is a great way to introduce children to gardening who often take an interest in their fanciful shapes, as well as a popular gardening gift - we can certainty send them to your chosen lucky recipient along with a hand-written card if you wish. Container topiary has increasingly come back into fashion in recent years generally using dense, small-leaved evergreens such as box plants (Buxus Sempervirens) and Japanese holly (Ilex crenata). We pride ourselves on offering topiary that has been carefully maintained and hand-trimmed to deliver the best specimens.
