Foxglove plants
Foxglove plants are familiar evergreen perennials producing tall, distinctive spikes of beautiful, tubular flowers in shades of pink, purple, red, white, lavender and yellow all summer long. Their stately flowers are perfect for adding ascent to the flower garden and their naturalistic appearance works well in mixed borders, heathland and woodland edges. Combining well with euphorbia plants, ferns, campanula and alliums, they provide a valuable source of rich nectar, making them well-suited for attracting bees and butterflies into the garden. If you're simply looking for flowers that will deliver the largest block of colour, consider delphinium plants instead, although for a combination of grandeur and delicacy, fox gloves are unmatched. Some fox gloves, also known by their Latin name Digitalis, will thrive in shadier spots in the garden, but be aware that all parts of the plant are toxic and highly poisonous if ingested.
