Sweet Pepper Seeds

Browse our range of sweet pepper seeds, also known as bell peppers. Sweet peppers are from the same family as chilli peppers but they have no capsaicin, meaning they are not hot to eat and have a zero rating on the Scoville heat scale. Sweet peppers are highly nutritious, containing lots of fibre, iron, vitamins A and C and potassium, plus you’ll get a satisfying low-calorie crunch with every bite. There are plenty of interesting shapes and styles of sweet peppers available, in shades of red, orange, yellow, green and even deep purple. Native to South America, sweet peppers prefer warm, sunny conditions, requiring artificial heat for most of the year in the UK, for example in a greenhouse, polytunnel, conservatory or kitchen windowsill. That said, Sweet peppers tolerate slightly cooler conditions than hot peppers, germinating between 18 and 32 degrees Celsius. You’ll be able to move them outdoors in the summer in warmer southern parts of the UK, but this is best done in containers so they can be moved back indoors when it gets colder again. Choose Sweet Pepper Confetti for plants that are a good size for containers and produce fruits that ripen from green to red and taste delicious eaten raw. Pepper Ox Horn Diablo & Ringo seeds produce 16cm long tapered fruits with an upright habit, developing into shades of red, green and yellow, while Sweet Pepper Salad Festival produces crisp and crunchy bell peppers in a rainbow of colours.
