Spring flowering perennials
There is no shortage of options to brighten your beds and borders with spring flowering perennials. After long, cold, dark winters, the first spring flowers give an incredible sense of hope and optimism for things to come over the gardening season. Some of our favourite early flowering perennials are hellebores with their beautiful, nodding flowers in various colours and Brunnera plants with large, heart-shaped, often variegated leaves and light blue flowers. Euphorbias make another excellent choice with unusual, exotic foliage in vivid shades or lime and scarlet, while bearded iris have fabulous, distinctive flowers in late spring. Be sure to choose plants that suit your conditions, for example perennials for shade or perennials for clay soil, depending on the planting site.
