Caryopteris plants are compact, rounded, small deciduous shrubs producing clusters of small, fluffy white or blue flowers in August and September. They have arching branches and aromatic, toothed, grey-green leaves, working well in groups at the front of a sunny border or container. Reaching a height and spread of 60-120cm (2-4 feet), Caryopteris are easy to grow, undemanding and drought tolerant plants and will help attract an abundance of bees, butterflies and beneficial insects to your garden. Grow best in a sheltered position in full sun, ideally positioned near a warm, sunny wall. In colder areas they behave more like herbaceous perennials, dying back to the ground in the winter ready to burst back into life again in the spring.
