Known as the butterfly bush in recognition of their ability to attract wildlife, Buddleia plants provide a natural feel to the garden with a slightly sprawling growth habit and attractive flower spikes on long stems. The lance-shaped flowers are produced in shades of white, yellow, pink, red, blue and purple from early summer into the autumn. It has silvery, grey-green foliage which darken as they mature and a delicious sweet honey scent. Butterfly bushes are fast growing, making them a perfect choice for any gardener wanting a quick injection of colour and interest into the border. Grow in a sheltered, sunny spot and prune each spring to keep them tidy.
Choose Buddleia Lochinch for pale purple flowers fading to white in the centre with an attractive orange eye; Buddleia Ivory for subtle ivory-cream flowers and a denser, more upright habit suitable for growing in a container; Buddleia Nanho Blue for arching stems and large clusters of fragrant rich violet-blue flowers; and Buddleia Sungold for spherical clusters of deep yellow, heavily scented flowers.
