Roses for archways
Shop our range of beautiful climbing roses to clothe a garden archway. Rose archways are perfect for linking different parts of the garden, bringing vertical ascent and formality to your outdoor spaces. Fragrant roses are particularly well suited to garden archways, allowing their rich perfume to be appreciated regularly as you pass under the arch each day. Be sure to choose a sturdy archway and select a rose with a suitable eventual height – it’s generally best to avoid very vigorous rambling roses, which may overwhelm the structure and are often too sprawling for the purpose. Arches are easier to install than pergolas and can bring height to small to medium sized gardens without commandeering too much space. Climbing roses flower best if the stems are twined around the archway at 45 degrees from vertical, rather than growing them straight up. This slows the flow of the sap and encourages more flower buds to develop. Remember to follow the pruning instructions for your chosen variety to get the best of your climbing rose too.
