Grass plants for containers
Shop our range of the best ornamental grasses to grow in containers. Some grasses like phormiums are perfect for bringing architectural flair to patios and balconies, or even in pairs either side of a doorway to frame an entrance, while whispy grasses such as carex introduce a sense of calm and tranquillity as their foliage gently rustles in the breeze. Many smaller grasses have an informal appearance, perfect for introducing variety and texture to container displays and acting as an excellent foil for showier flowering plants. They combine particularly well with flowering perennials or broad-petalled flowering shrubs to create a subtle or explosive splash of colour. Grasses also work effectively in pots in the sensory garden or to soften areas of hard landscaping. Be sure to choose a pot with proper drainage and one that’s large enough to comfortably accommodate the rootball with plenty of space for growing room on all sides.
