Physocarpus plants
Physocarpus plants are a group of hardy, easy to grow deciduous foliage shrubs producing clusters of dainty, creamy-white, star-shaped flowers from late spring through summer. Grown for their fabulous foliage, which is slightly serrated, gently lobed and available in a wide palette of colours spanning regal purples to delightful golden-yellows. Physocarpus are also known as ninebark, referring to the way its bark peels back in thin curling strips in the winter. Low maintenance, easy to grow and resistant to pest and diseases, making them perfect for beginner gardeners. Ninebark is perfect for informal, cottage-style gardens, suitable for hedging or incorporating into shrub or mixed borders, typically reaching around 2 metres tall and a little over a metre wide.
