Tall perennial plants
Tall-growing perennials are perfect for making a statement, looking particularly effective when grown in groups or rough rows to create a living wall of colour. They are perfect for adding height at the back of a mixed border or flower garden, where they can act as a backdrop, towering over smaller perennials, shrubs or bulbs. Some are also suitable for growing in large pots, perhaps for putting at the back of a containerised display on the patio. At Jackson's, we have a wide range of tall-growing perennials for sale for delivery to anywhere in the UK, including some of our favourites such as Anemone, Delphinium, Lupines and Verbena.
Taller perennials are best grown in a relatively sheltered part of the garden to prevent them from being bent or toppled over in the wind. You should think about whether they would benefit from a stake or support structure. Sturdy branches can be highly effective to provide the necessary support whilst maintaining a naturalistic appearance. It's best to install the support in spring before your tall perennials have put on too much growth, being sure not to tie your plants in too tight to allow for growing room.
