Persicaria plants

Persicaria is a low-growing, mat-forming semi-evergreen perennial producing upright spikes of showy, wand-like blooms in shades of pale pink from summer through early autumn. It is well suited to growing as ground cover to beautify bare patches of earth and help control erosion on banks and slopes. Persicaria is also effective for naturalising woodland gardens and meadows or even trailed over the side of mixed container arrangements. Versatile and robust, it has lush, oval, pointed leaves, while the nectar-rich flowers will help attract wildlife such as bees, butterflies and beneficial insects into your garden. Persicaria are well suited to naturalistic, informal style gardens where fast coverage of large areas is required. However, it can become invasive if left unchecked, so consider if a root barrier may be suitable depending on your site and situation. They prefer a moist soil in full sun to light shade. Lift and divide congested clumps every 3-5 years as required.
