Pratia plants

Pratia plants are attractive, low-growing evergreen perennials producing masses of dainty, star-shaped flowers above a ground-hugging mass of small, rounded foliage, followed by small fleshy fruits. Commonly known as blue star creeper, it is well suited to the front of the rock garden, flower borders, informal cottage garden plantings or patio containers. Pratia are also particularly effective in the cracks between rocks or slabs and grown in informal drifts of the same variety in the gravel garden. Preferring a sheltered, sunny spot in a moist yet well drained soil, they are vigorous but not invasive and usually trouble free, but should be protected from slugs and snails. Keep well watered until established. Pratia plants can be lifted and divided at any time of the year if they become congested, or simply to propagate new plants.
