Large Evergreen Shrubs
Large evergreen shrubs form the backbone of expansive beds and borders, bringing permanency and structure to the garden and acting as a foil for showier seasonal plants. “Evergreen” refers to the way they retain their leaves all year round, in contrast to deciduous bushes that drop their leaves in the autumn. Evergreen shrubs also produce beautiful flowers and autumn berries or fruits, bringing their own ornamental interest to the garden too. We recommend growing a mix of evergreen and deciduous shrubs to benefit from autumnal colour but equally so your garden isn’t just bare stems in winter. Evergreens also provide year-round coverage and food for birds and wildlife.
