Coprosma plants
Coprosma is an excellent bushy evergreen shrub with glossy, rounded, leathery foliage that’s often variegated in shades or green, purple and brown, perfect for bringing colour and interest to your garden. Mature plants produce small, fragrant, cup-shaped flowers in late summer, sometimes followed by black berries if male and female plants are grown together. It has a compact growth habit, useful for gardeners who want to keep borders “neat and tidy” whilst maintaining an informal appearance. It is actually a member of the coffee family of plants, native to grasslands, swamps, forests and rocky areas across Australasia, Indonesia and the Pacific islands. Coprosma ‘Lemon and Lime’ has glossy bright yellow foliage with rich dark edges that flood with orange over winter, providing an injection of much needed colour during the cooler months. Coprosma 'Inferno' has spectacular bright red, gold and green foliage whose colour intensifies in winter. It can be used to create and informal screen or to add vivid colour to a border or large container.
