Cabbage has been cultivated for human and animal consumption since the 14th century with the word “cabbage” believed to derive from the french caboche, a colloquial term for head. Cabbages prefer an open, sunny site on a rich, well-drained but moisture-retentive soil. Cabbage Savoy Cordesa F1 seeds can be sown indoors in March then planted out when seedlings have 4 leaves, or planted straight outdoors in April. Cabbage Durham Early seeds are sown between July and September for a harvest in April-May of the following year.
