Leylandii conifer plants
Leylandii are probably the fastest growing dense evergreen hedge available, well suited to developing as a screen above 1.8 metres tall. They can put on up to 90cm of new growth each year with beautiful textured foliage, available in rich green and gold colours, giving a smart, neat appearance when well kept clipped and well maintained. Leylandii makes an excellent windbreak or screen for the perimeter of your property, requiring plenty of light but tolerant of pollution in urban areas and the salt laden air of coastal sites. Their dense habit is also perfect for providing privacy from nosey neighbours and passers by, making your garden a secluded sanctuary of peace and relaxation. The fast growth rate means they’re available at a budget friendly price and they’re unfussy about soil type, succeeding on chalk and clay. Trim at least once a year, twice if you want to maintain sharp lines in a more formal style garden. Take care to ensure newly planted specimens don’t become crooked after heavy winds on exposed sites over the first couple of years whilst they anchor themselves into their new home. We do not recommend allowing them to get too tall to prevent their height getting out of control and given they are relatively shallow rooted.
