Sowing Time

Sowing Indoors
Fill a 9cm (3.5in) pot with compost firming lightly with the base of another pot. Water well. Scatter 10 seeds over the surface and cover with about 1/2cm (1/4in) of compost. Cover pot with cling film and keep warm 10-15 degrees Celsuis. Remove cling film as soon as seedlings emerge.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. Water compost when it feels dry to touch.
Growing Outside
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks and then plant out from June to August. Allow 30cm (12in) between each group of plants. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot for best results.
Special Note
Alternatively, sow pinches of seed in 8cm pots, and allow the plants to mature in the pots on a warm windowsill for a year round supply.
