Broccoli Seeds

Broccoli is a superfood, brimming with vitamins A and C and essential minerals such as potassium and iron. You’ll be ready to harvest delicious, crisp green heads and healthy, succulent side shoots in the summer or autumn around 3-4 months after sowing. Like cabbage and cauliflower, broccoli is a brassica, also known by its Italian name ‘calabrese’. Purple Sprouting Broccoli, as available in our All Season Broccoli Seed Collection, is a close relative of the popular Calabrese or green broccoli. Broccoli can be sown indoors in February/March before being planted outdoors in April/May. Alternatively, it can be sown straight outdoors into an undisturbed, pre-watered soil in April-June. It grows best in an open, sunny spot in a rich, well-drained but moisture retentive soil. Cabbage root fly can be a problem with brassica plants – you may consider using ‘collars’ to help prevent attack.
