'Queen Cox' is a late season dessert apple which was produced as a sport of the popular Apple 'Cox Orange Pippin'. It is effectively a superior version 2.0 of Apple Cox's Orange Pippin. It produces beautiful crisp, rich orange-red apples with a lovely, aromatic, juicy flesh. The bountiful, high quality crop of dessert apples can be eaten fresh from the tree or used in all your favourite culinary recipes. Self fertile and highly versatile, it will produce a good harvest without needing a pollinators and can be used for making cider too. It flowers in spring, producing masses of beautiful pink-flushed, five-petalled white flowers bringing a sweet, floral fragrance to your garden. The apples are ready to harvest between mid-September and early October depending on the weather conditions. The nectar rich flowers will help encourage bees and butterflies to venture into your garden and it has won the RHS 'Plants for Pollinators' award.
Buying Fruit Trees/Bushes from Jacksons Nurseries
Our trees might be Freshly Potted and the root system may not be fully established, and loose soil may occur when unpacking.
Unlike many garden centres, supermarkets and some nurseries here at Jacksons Nurseries we sell the majority of our stock all year round. Our stock is for the most part grown outdoors making it far hardier than those grown under glass and/or only sold ‘In Season’.
Here at Jacksons Nurseries we would favour a hardy outdoor grown plant every time. They are far less likely to suffer from the shock of being planted in colder conditions and they will begin to establish more rapidly the following spring. This can mean that they don’t look like a ‘picture perfect’ plant when purchased out of season but with the correct care and a little time you’ll have a wonderful plant to enjoy for many years to come.
