The Norway Spruce or ‘Picea abies’ has been considered the quintessential British Christmas tree since Victorian times when Prince Albert popularised the idea of bringing trees into the home.
This variety is a firm favourite that adorns Christmas imagery all over the world. It is especially popular as an outdoor Christmas tree and makes a great focal point due to its commanding potential height.
It has a conical growth habit with dense and spikey, bright green needles that stand out beautifully against the simpler winter colours. These spikes are quite sharp so care is recommended when manoeuvring your tree into position and decorating.
The Norway Spruce produces an amazing fragrance, filling your home with the scents of the forest.
Bring your Norway Spruce tree into the home in mid-late December to reduce the amount of time it spends indoors and therefore the number of needles it will drop. Our top tip to help improve needle retention is to place your tree well away from radiators and other sources of heat and keep it in plenty of fresh water.
PLEASE NOTE: The pots supplied are intended to keep some soil around the roots of the trees. We recommend you re-pot the tree into a larger pot, a half barrel or other suitable containers to help to stabilise the tree whilst in your home. Please unpack your tree outside where possible.
Each tree is unique and will naturally vary in appearance.
