Weigela
Weigela florida Monet
This is a superb, ornamental, deciduous dwarf masterpiece which produces showy clusters of large, funnel-shaped, bright pinky-purple blooms from May to June and sporadically throughout the summer. It has a tight, well-branched, mound-forming habit and displays fantastic, deep green leaves with dazzling creamy-white variegation that becomes strikingly flushed with deep pink when scorched by the sun. This creates a lovely, delicate mix of foliage tones which look particularly spectacular when combined with the flowers. Excellent for planting in bold drifts along the edge of an annual or perennial bed, it’s great for adding a splash of colour to semi-shaded areas of the garden where it will attract wildlife, including butterflies, bees and birds. It can also be used as an ornamental feature plant in a container or grown at the front of mixed and shrub borders.
