Leatherleaf Arrowwood
Viburnum Rhytidophyllum
This is an impressive, sun-loving, drought tolerant plant with glossy, dark green leaves and small white flowers in late spring. These are followed by attractive red fruit in the autumn which gradually turns to shiny black, adding colour and interest to the garden throughout the year. It is a tough plant that’s great for using in problem areas, standing up well to chalky soil, dry conditions and wind exposure. Its fast growing young shoots and hardiness also make it a good choice for using as a semi-evergreen hedge. As one of the bigger Viburnums it makes a real statement in the garden.
