Mullein
Verbascum Gainsborough
Tall, stately spikes of densely-packed, bowl-shaped, dusky yellow blooms are produced in abundance from May to August. This is an attractive, easy-to-grow, semi-evergreen variety which forms a rosette of pointed, grey-green leaves and self-seeds freely each year. Combining well with Echinops Ritro Veitch’s Blue, it looks stunning in a sunny, well-drained border and makes a great addition to the cottage garden. Winner of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, it should be grown against a strong background to set off the flowers effectively.

Garden Care:
Remove faded flower spikes promptly and mulch with a well-rotted organic matter from March to April. We’d recommend raising seedlings as each plant will only last for a period of two years. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
