Globe Flower
Trollius chinensis Golden Queen
Wonderful, bright orange blooms with spiky, central petals which form an attractive crown, surrounded by an outer ring of cupped, soft orange sepals. This is a handsome, moisture-loving variety with fresh, mid-green leaves that are finely cut with serrated, toothed edges. It forms a vigorous, basal clump which launches the tall, yet sturdy, flowering stems. Perfect for growing as a marginal plant or using in a moist perennial border or wildlife garden. Staking isn’t normally required but faded foliage should be cut back in mid-summer.

Apply a generous mulch of woodchip around the base of the plant during periods of hot, dry weather to keep the roots moist and cool. Large clumps can be lifted and divided as required every 3 to 5 years in early spring. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
