Globeflower
Trollius Canary Bird

Masses of lovely, graceful, golden-yellow blooms are produced on tall, stiff flowering stems above a dense mound of foliage from May to July. Each delicate petal is attractively curved over the top of the flower to give the unique appearance of a spherical globe. This is a vigorous, long-flowering variety which forms a compact, well-foliated clump of deeply-dissected, dark waxy-green leaves. Native to the cool, temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, it is self-seeding and makes a great choice for adding colour and interest to a sheltered, sunny wall in a consistency moist soil.

Position: Prefers partial shade

Soil: A consistently moist, yet well-drained soil

Rate of Growth: Fast

Flowering Period: May to July

Flower Colour: Golden-yellow

Other Features: It becomes quite invasive in rich, fertile soils

Hardiness: Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C

Garden Care: Congested clumps can be lifted and divided every 3 to 5 years if required and flowering stems should be staked if it’s being grown in an exposed, windy position. To prevent potentially problematic self-seeding simply cut off the tops of faded flowers before the seeds mature. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.

Eventual Height:  90cm
Eventual Spread:  70cm
