Spiderwort
Tradescantia Concord Grape
Delightful clusters of beautiful, rich violet-purple flowers with contrasting, golden-yellow stamens are produced in abundance from June to September. This is a strong growing, clump-forming variety with a somewhat trailing growth habit and attractive, grass-like, fresh green leaves. Commonly known as Spiderwort, it is old-fashioned, easy to care for and makes an excellent addition to a sunny, moist border.

A consistently moist, yet well-drained soil

Flowering Period:

Other Features:
Tradescantia is named after the father and son team, the Tradescants, who were the gardeners of King Charles I
Hardiness:
Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C
Garden Care:
Easy to care for. Faded flowers can be removed with a pair of secateurs to keep the plant looking tidy, although this won’t extend the flowering period. Like grasses, you should not attempt to trim or cut the foliage back. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
Eventual Height: 50cm
Eventual Spread:
40cm
