Common Lilac
Syringa vulgaris Primrose
This is a brilliant, deciduous shrub which bears highly fragrant, single, creamy-yellow flowers which emerge from yellow buds between May and June. These blooms, which are carried in large, rounded trusses, intensify as the plant matures, giving you a more dramatic show of richer flowers each year. It was the winner of the RHS Award of Merit in 1950 and provides a fine contrast to the lilac and lavender blues of other Syringa varieties.
