Rowan/Moutain Ash hybrid
Sorbus Discolor
This is a hardy, deciduous variety which bears corymbs of pink-tinged, showy white flowers above coarse, dark green leaves in late spring. It is a large, conical shrub with upright branches of pinnate, lance-shaped, tapered leaves which take on brilliant shades of yellow, orange and reddish-purple in the autumn. The flowers are followed by clusters of waxy-white/ yellow berries which are produced in abundance as early as September. It’s tolerant of pollution as well as strong winds, and can also be grown on a slope.
