Shibataea kumasasa
This is a beautiful bamboo with a leaf arrangement like no other, giving it a unique visual appearance. Specifically suited to warmer climates such as the south of England, it is a versatile plant which can be used as a low hedge, specimen, large scale ground cover, container plant, or just as an addition to a mixed border. It is sometimes called Ruscus-leaved bamboo, as the shape of the leaves resembles that of the Ruscus genus. Although the slender stems can reach up to 2.2 metres, it is more commonly maintain as a shrub about a metre tall. When mature it forms a lovely, bushy green mound of narrow stems and dark green foliage.
