Temple Bamboo
Semiarundinaria fastuosa
This is a dense, evergreen bamboo with glossy green leaves which are borne high up the plant. It is a large, hardy variety with short limbs and erect canes, giving it a unique visual appearance. Straight, upright stems, clustered with short branches, give it a neat, columnar appearance making it exceptionally impressive as a specimen plant. Temple Bamboo also makes an outstanding and majestic hedge with no leaning canes to contend with. If it’s grown in full sun the emerald green canes will mature to dark purple, adding to the stature and appeal of the plant. As it is slow growing, you won’t have to implement any measures to stop the spread of this variety, although it does need to be planted quite close together if a dense hedge is required.
