Meadow Sage
Salvia nemorosa East Friesland
Spectacular, upright spikes of richly-coloured, vivid violet-purple flowers are produced in abundance across the whole plant from June to October. This is an easy-to-grow, clump-forming variety with beautiful, glowing purple stems and nicely textured, lance-shaped, blue-green aromatic leaves. Attractive to bees and butterflies, it combines well with Sedums and other Salvias and makes an excellent choice for adding accent to the garden or growing in a container. It will not grow in soils that ‘puddle’ over the winter and should be protected from cold, drying winds. A second flush of blooms will normally be produced if the plant is cut back after the first production of flowers have faded

Garden Care:
To encourage a second flush of blooms to be produced in the same year, remove faded flower spikes promptly. It should be protected from cold, drying winds and excessive winter wet and we’d also recommend mulching around the base of the plant in spring. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
