Climbing Bourbon Rose
Rosa Zephirine Drouhin
Lavish, semi-double, loosely cup-shaped, deep carmine-pink blooms with a strong, sweet fragrance are produced freely across the whole plant from June until the first frost. First introduced back in 1868, this is a classic, repeat flowering Bourbon Climber that has been cherished for its spectacular, abundant display of blooms and vigorous, well-foliated stems for generations. It has semi-glossy, mid-green leaves and attractive, thorn-less stems which make pruning a pleasure. Perfect for covering pillars, pergolas, fences and archways, it’s also robust, reliable and hardy enough to clothe a north-facing wall or large, unsightly objects in exposed positions. Dead heading faded blooms will encourage a fresh produced of flowers from June onwards and ensuring there is a free flow of air around the plant will help prevent mildew problems. This is a variety we’d recommend for pruning to form a tall, informal flowering hedge.
