Cherry Tree
Prunus hillieri Spire
This is a highly ornamental, slender, upright tree with bronze young leaves tinged with pink that are densely arranged along the stems and create a charming display when they unfurl in the spring. It produces small, single, soft pink blooms which emerge from red buds and attractively clothe the branches from April to May, creating a fabulous pink cloud effect. In the autumn the oval, pointed foliage takes on brilliant shades of orange, red and yellow, adding to the trees decorative appearance. It has an erect, columnar growth habit when young, becoming slightly broader and forming a shuttlecock-like shape as it matures.
