Japanese Flowering Cherry
Prunus Amanogawa
Commonly known as the Flowering Japanese Cherry, this is a deciduous, upright columnar tree with beautiful, bronze young leaves which unfurl in the spring before gradually maturing to deep green. In late spring it produces dense clusters of large, semi-double, shell pink flowers that clothe the vertical branches and side shoots, providing a wonderful sweet scent to the garden. The branches grow in a narrow, compact, shuttlecock form, making it a fantastic ornamental tree for smaller gardens where space is at a premium. Great for adding architectural flare to the garden; it can be used as a specimen plant in the middle of a lawn or grown in a large container on the patio
