European Plum
Plum Czar
A popular, reliable cropper with excellent colour and flavour that’s mainly for culinary use but also suitable for desserts when fully ripe. Medium-sized, dark purple, oval fruits have yellowish-green flesh with a good, acidic flavour that’s perfect for cooking purposes. Despite being frost resistant, it’s best trained on a sunny wall to guarantee a good crop of fruit. A very productive, self-fertile variety that’s ready for picking in early August
Position:
Prefers Full sun
Soil:
Any reasonable soil except for chalky soil and poorly drained ground which "puddles"
Rate of Growth:
Average to fast

White
Other Features:
Grows best against a sunny wall where some protection from cold winter winds is available. Although it’s self fertile, it can still be used to pollinate other plum trees in pollination group B
Hardiness:
Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C
Garden Care:
European plums are adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions and do not need to be thinned out. They should be pruned only to remove dead, diseased and crossing branches. As they are tolerant of rot and infection, large branches can be cut off with little risk to the tree.
