Himalayan Pine
Pinus Wallichiana
This is a graceful, upright evergreen conifer with soft, blue-green needles which are blue-white underneath, creating a silvery-blue cast effect. These are displayed in bundles of five, forming a loosely and broadly pyramidal shape when young, becoming wider with pendulous branches with age. Brown, cylindrical cones are produced on older plants in spring or autumn and the best foliage colour occurs in spring when the flush of new growth begins to develop. It has good resistance to air pollution but winter winds may cause discolouration of the foliage.
