Golden Scots Pine
Pinus Sylvestris Aurea
This is a hardy, evergreen conifer which is ideal for brightening up a dull area of the garden providing it is planted in full sun. In late autumn the foliage takes on a brilliant shade of bright lemon-yellow which is retained exceptionally well throughout the winter and into early spring. As the temperature rises in the spring, the foliage darkens to bluish-green, but usually retains a lemon-yellow tint at the tips, giving an interesting colour combination. It makes a good accent plant which is tolerant of relatively inhospitable conditions and can also be used for cut flower arrangements.
